Retrieve (POP) your email using Microsoft Outlook

These instructions are specific to Microsoft Outlook 2007 and clients of Wildwood Interactive whose email we host.  They may apply more generally to other versions of Outlook and for other email hosts with a few minor modifications.

PLEASE NOTE: The #1 problem we see when users are having trouble getting or sending their email is an incorrect port setting.  This is covered in #11 below.  Make sure you have 2525 set, especially if you're on DSL.

Step by Step Instructions for configuring Outlook

1.  Open Outlook and locate your main menu at the top of the window.

7.  Complete all fields in the Internet E-mail Settings Popup.  Then be sure to click "More Settings" instead of "Next."

8. Click on the "Outgoing Server" tab.

9.  Click on "My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" and leave "Use same settings as my incoming mail server" radio button selected.  Then click the "Advanced" tab.

11.  Change "Outgoing server (SMTP)" from 25 to 2525.  Click "OK" when you've finished with this tab.

12.  This will take you back to the Internet E-mail Settings Popup that you were at on Step 7.  This time click "Next" instead of "More Settings."

13.  Click "Finish" and close up any remaining popups.  You should receive a test email in Outlook.
