Another top question we often get is "Now that I've signed a contract with you, what's next?" They are generally fairly apprehensive at this point, so there's a bit of calming to do. And we have discovered that more than anything, information calms a person who's fearful. Knowing what's coming is important.
Every firm probably does their processes a bit different, so we can only speak for Wildwood.
Every client comes to us in a different stage of "development", too. Some clients have no website, no URL, and once in
awhile, no computer. Some clients have been held hostage by their previous web developer, don't know their logins, etc. Apparently
their web developer was last seen in a third world country, or whooping it up in New York with the client's last check (see comments here about client fear.)
Some clients actually can do HTML, but it's not their core job, they've gotten too busy, it's time to hire an expert, or they've made a mess
they need someone else to fix. Clients sometimes have websites, but now want their products online. And some clients are
just plain embarrassed of their current sites (no, I won't identify them.) So the "to-do", "step-by-step" list is different
for everyone.
Below are the general steps. Watch for this area to fill out soon.
- Design
- Navigation
- Content
- Programming
- Testing
- Approval and live
